The Committee on Health and Human Resources moved to amend the bill on page 7, section 2, line 111, by striking subdivisions 9 and 10, and inserting in lieu thereof the following:

“(9) The Commission for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing;

(10) The James H. “Tiger” Morton Catastrophic Illness Commission; and

(11)  Human Rights Commission provided in article eleven, chapter five of this code.

And,

On page 18, section 1, line 1, by striking the section in its entirety and inserting a new section 1 to read as follows:

Ҥ9-10-1. The Department of Medical Services.

(a) The Bureau for Medical Services shall be renamed the Department of Medical Services.  The Commissioner of the Bureau for Medical Services shall be the Secretary of the Department of Medical Services.  The department shall continue to operate as currently configured as the Bureau for Medical Services with the structure of the Department of Health and Human Resources for administrative support, interagency cooperation, and program support.

(b) Rulemaking authority given to the Bureau for Medical Services is transferred to the Department of Medical Services and approval for submission is transferred to the Secretary of the Department on Medical Services.

(c) A contract with the Bureau for Medical Services remains valid until expiration and is transferred under the authority of the Department of Medical Services.
